“Such an incredible experience. The hike is tough due to the steep elevation and gravel path. I wore trail runners with good traction and did not need poles. The extra fuego hike is definitely worth it - you get so much closer to see the eruptions. We were allocated to “Acatenango Tours” group and the campsite was ok; sleeping bags in tarpaulin tents with no lights. Not the best but not the worst. Some other camp sites looked better. Unfortunately our guides did not speak english so communication was difficult.”

“Incredible experience. The hike is hard but doable. The accommodations are very rustic and it is very cold at night. Jose and Christian were attentive guides on the way up. My son went on the extra hike the afternoon we got to the top, and Jose did a good job with the group for the extra hike. We saw an eruption. The only problem was Christian rushed up the mountain the morning of the summit and he did not slow the pace for slower hikers, so half of our group was unable to summit the second day.”

“This is an incredible experience. It’s a very tough hike. Angell and Rogelio were great tour guides. Very helpful and friendly. The one thing that could have been better is the food. We were given a thick, hard loaf of bread that was stuffed with a very small portion of pepperoni or something. It was cold and there was no way to heat it up. Then we were given bland pasta and noodles ssw other tours enjoying hearty portions of heated chicken and rice.”

“I hiked Fuego and Acatenango with my friend with Brothers expeditions. Go on a week day, it’s crowded on the weekend. There was no running water at our cabin which isn’t a big deal.It’s hit and miss as to whether or not you’ll see the volcano while it’s active. The views were great (when there wasn’t people in the way). Also make sure you are properly prepared with a couple jackets, headlamp and water. I had to rent a headlamp for the price of a new one.”

Loved the fuego hike. Although we had one girl who clearly could not make it and the guide kept trying to help her up (eventually she had to give up) which held us up from seeing sunrise at top. Food was delicious, the cabins were awesome. We were provided a sleeping pad and bag (no pillow so if you need one bring one!) 10/10 amazing. Once in a lifetime experience”
